Young World Changers

One in three young people will grow up without an adult mentor.

TFT safely and skillfully matches adult volunteers with youth who need support through our process.
N
We get to know the youth.
N
We explain our goal is to be a mentor to help with a positive plan into adulthood with the goal of financial literacy.
N
Mentors can help these young kids improve academics, improve their behavioral and emotional health, and positively change.

Increased resiliency

Researchers have found that the most critical factor in building resiliency in children is the consistent presence of a caring, supportive person who provides unconditional love, non-judgmental, active listening, and actions that communicate, “I am here for you.”
N

Kids build confidence by doing. Encouragement and support can help a child feel safe enough to try something new.

Our Process

N
First, let the youth know that talking and being with them is very important to me.
N
Next, let them know what my intentions are (give them a positive passage into adulthood by dealing with and conquering the issues they are facing.
N
Then I will ask them if they would like to talk about their situation and if they would like my help in getting through it together.
N
When they say yes, we will start by looking into their past, decision making, talking about their feeling (holding it in or letting it out), Conviction (what is wrong or right), and find out if something or someone has affected them in the past (our pass shape us).
N
Once we have started making progress, my next step would be to look into their school situation.
N
If they are doing well in school, we’ll move into what they consider after school, college, military, trades school, etc. If they are struggling in school, we will look into methods for getting them on track (talk with Parents, Teachers, Counselors, tutoring, GED, etc.) But whatever it is, they would be the only ones who can make the decision.
N
At this time, I will share a little of my past with them (single mom, 11 different schools, homeless, arrests, etc.) and show how important it is to make Good decisions.

I will show them three outcomes, the Good, Bad, and the Ugly.

N
Good is to make decisions that will allow them to have a Positive passage into adulthood.
N
Bad is struggling and more painful times for them, their families, and all who have to Love them.
N
Ugly will be an early death and never getting a chance to honor their Parents, Family and never being a contributing member in their Community.
N
Classes-Drugs and Alcohol Awareness Program, Automotive maintenance, How to get a job and Financial literacy.
N
Our Program will focus on Character Building, Leadership Development also Academics.
